“See a penny pick it up, all the day you’ll have good luck!”
It doesn’t matter that I’m not a little kid, I still pick up pennies for luck when I see them. Though they have to be heads-up, of course. I also refuse to walk under ladders, I don’t open umbrellas indoors, and I try my best to avoid cracks in the sidewalk. It might be silly superstition, or maybe there’s something more to it.
What ever you believe, cultures and countries around the world and throughout time have decided that different symbols, animals, and events represent good luck.

The Tree as Beautiful MachineWhile searching deviantART for images for the Earth Day article, I became intrigued with how trees have become not only such a central focus of our current environmental concerns, but also how they play such a central role in our art, whether as background or actual subject matter. There are so many Enchanted Forests on deviantART that it made me wonder if trees, so mundane and taken for granted yet at the same time so vital to life on earth and so steeped in myth, have always been the revered subjects of the world’s artists.

Spring has sprung and April showers have started raining down here at HQ.
Winter rain makes me want to crawl back into bed, get a hot cup of coco, and read a book all day. But there’s something different about April showers...
Maybe it’s because it’s less cold outside, or that the days are longer, but springtime rain makes me want to play in puddles.I want to go outside and smell the fresh air, and I just feel rejuvenated. Spring is a time for me to dust off old projects and start new ones. Forget New Years, April's when I get inspired!

"If you could have any super power, what would it be?" I think it's a question we all have to answer at some point. We're innately curious about the unknown and enjoy diving into the depths of imagination. We know it's not possible, but we can't shake the question of, "What if?"
I don't think my answer has changed since I was asked as a child. I never saw much need for invisibility. I don't think I would enjoy being a mind reader. And sure, shooting laser beams out of my hands would be fun, but there's something that I've always been drawn to more.

With Valentine's Day right around the corner, the word "love" is in no short supply. Stores are trying to get you to buy everything from chocolates and jewelry to vacation getaways for that special someone in your life. As someone who's been notoriously single on Valentine's Day, the L word starts to sound like nails on chalkboard leading up to the days before February 14th. Nevertheless, I thought it would be neat to explore art depicting different types of love.
In Greek culture, there are several different words for "love": philía, storgē, agápe, and éros. The Greek language distinguishes the different ways "love" is used. Philía is the type of love and affection you feel with friends and community.
